


| New Testament and Psalms in Dutch; Amsterdam, A. Haselbroek, I. van der Putte, I. van Heekeren, 1723. Contains part of the records of the children of Maria Van Beverhoudt and her husband, James Barclay; the existing record begins in the middle of the notice of their first son and it is probable that there was an earlier leaf of records which is now lost. The Testament passed to Mrs. Maria Van B. Barclay's nephew, Andrew Barclay Bache, and it has descended directly from him to his great-granddaughter, Miss Charlotte Elizabeth Dudley, of Brooklyn, N. Y., who is the present owner. ...Church the Sponsors were my Father Andrew Barclay Susanah Marchal of New York Gaut. Sp' De Wint and his wife Elizabeth De Wint of the Island St. Thomas. On Friday Morning One O clock 24 Sep 174 was born my first Daughter Margaretta and Baptized in Trinity Church by the Rev Charles Inglis the Sponsors my Brother Thomas Barclay Ann Dorothy Bache and Margaretta Duncan. On Tuesday ¼ before 7 o clock the 19 marhc 1776 at New Barbadoes Neck, N. Jersey was born my second Daughter Maria and Christened in Mynanunck Church by the Rev. Mr. Schoonmak(er) the Sponsors were Thos. Duncan Catherine Van Cortlandt and Elizabeth Bayard. On Sunday Morning 1 O'clock 26 Oct. 1777 at New York was born my third Daughter named Helena and Baptized in St. paul's Church by the Rev. Benjamin Moore the Sponosrs were my Brother Andrew D. Barclay Sarah Lispenard and Mary Burke. On 7 April 1779 at New York was born my Second son named James and Baptized in St. paul's Church the Sponsors A. Lispenard, John Hill, Chas. Bailey and on the 10' July it pleased the Lord to take him aged 3 months and 3 Days. On Sunday the 5 Nov. 1780 was born my fourth Daughter Ann Dorothy and Baptized in St. paul's Church the Sponsors were Doctor Richard Bailey Stephen N. Bayard and Charlotte Amelia Bailey. On the 9th Day of Decem. 1781 was born my third Son named James and baptized in St. paul's Church the Sponsors were John Ritson, John Barclay and Elizabeth Ritson and the 12th of Feb. 1782 it pleased the Lord to take him to himself aged 2 months 3 Days. On the 3 Day of Decem 1782 was born my Fourth Son named Fred'k Jay and Baptized in St. paul's Church by the Rev. Doctor English the Sponsors Fred. Jay John Ritson and Ann Maginetes Jay. On 22 April 1784 was born my twin Daughters Charlinne Elizabeth and Sarah Amelia and baptized in St. paul's Church by the Rev. Mr. Marshal of Connecticutt the Sponsor to Elizabeth John De Wint, Mrs. Henry White and Mrs. Bleeker. to Emilia Leonard Lispenard, Mrs. Mc Evers & Helena Cortlandt and on the 20 of Sept 1786, 9 O'Clock in the Evening it pleased the Lord to take to himself my Daughter Amelia aged 2 years - Months and 6 Days. On the Fifth May 1785 was born my Fifth Son named Johannes Van Beverhoudt and Baptized in St. paul's Church by the Rev. Benj. Moore the Sponsors were Helena Lispenard, Mrs. De Wint the Rev. John Marshal Peter Hall and John Barclay. On the 6th May 1786 was born my Seventh Daughter named Juliana Susanah and baptized in St. paul's Church by the Rev. Benj. Moore the Sponsors were Mr --- Bullon of Amsterdam, Miss Mary Hill and Helena Roosevelt. On the 6" Day of Jan'y 1788 was born my Eight Daughter named Sarah Amelia and baptized in St. paul's Church the Sponsors were Henry White, Mrs Mc Evers & Helena Cortlandt and on 22' Aug. it pleased the Lord to take her to himself aged 7 months 15 Days. On the 12' of April 1788 was born my 9th Daughter named Charlotte Matilda and Christened in St. paul's Church by the Rev. Mr. Moore the Sponsors were James Bleeker, J. C. Mc Evers and Ann D. Bache.
