William Townsend Family Bible
Holy Bible in English; New York, Hodge & Campbell, 1792.

Contains the records of William Townsend and Margaret, his wife, with some
of their descendants.  The Bible is known as the "Oyster Bay" Bible and is
now in the possession of Miss Marguerite Valentine of Glen Cove, Long Island.

October 30th 1796

Mary Townsend the third Child of Willm. & Margaret Townsend was born June
20th 1797. Died June 8. 1881

James Townsend son of William and Margaret Townsend was born 15th June
1804

George W. Townsend son of William and Margaret Townsend was born 27th
Sept. 1806.

Margaret E. Townsend Daughter of William and Margaret Townsend was born
21 March, 1809 (Died February 14th 1879)

Frances Townsend Daughter of William and Margaret Townsend was born 7th
May 1811.

Samuel H. Townsend Son of William and Margaret Townsend was born 22d.
July 1814.

Gertrude Townsend Daughter of William and Margaret Townsend, was born
21st January 1818.

Margaret Townsend, Wife of William Townsend died 11th October 1818

Wm. W. Townsend, son of Wm. & Margaret Townsend, died 10th September
1828.  William Townsend husband of Margaret Townsend died August 23d.
1834.

Wm. Winder Polk, of, William, was born in Somerset County in the state of
Maryland on the 9th day of august, 1787

Almy U. Townsend was born 1st january 1802

William and Almy were married on the 29th Novr. 1817

Wm. Winder Polk, son of Wm. & Almy was born February 5th 1819

Mary Townsend Polk, Daughter of William & Almy U. Polk was born Septm. 8th
1822.

Margaret Townsend Polk, Daughter of William & Almy Polk was born 14th
March 1827 Deceased th August 1828

Francis James Polk Son of Wm. and Almy U. Polk was born 5th october 1829
Deceased 10th october 1831

James Black Polk son of Wm. and Almy Polk was born Sept. 3d 1832

Jacob F. Covert, and Frances Townsend, were married 10th January 1832
Jacob F. Covert was born 13th September, 1807.

George Townsend and Elizabeth Covert were married 10th January 1832.

Mary Townsend Daughter of George and Elizabeth Townsend was born 5th
December 1832.

William W. Townsend married Fanny Seaman, Feb. 12th, 1817.

He died Sept. 10th, 1828, she May 27th 1854. Issue, Billopp, Margaret,
William, Matilda, Henry. Wm. died in California.

Almy U. Townsend and Wm. W. Polk, see entry preceding page.  He died in
the morning; she in the evening of Feb. 13, 1856 in Frederick City, Md. and
were buried there. Issue, Winder, Mary Margaret, Frank, Gertrude, James, and
Louisa.  Frank & Gertrude died in infancy.

Phebe W. Townsend md. Beekman V. Hoffman, U.S.N. Nov. 29, 1817.  He died
Dec. 10, 1834. Issue, Margaret, Gertrude, Mary. The last died in infancy.

George W. Townsend md. Elizabeth C. Covert Jan. 10, 1832. She died Sept.
28, 1846.  He Sep. 5, 1880. Issue, Mary E, George C, Beekman H. George C
died Oct. 10, 1863.

Margaret E. md. Dr. James C. Townsend, Decemr. 5th 1838. She died Feb. 14
1879. Issue, Julia M, James H.

Mary H. Townsend, died June 8th, 1881

George W. Townsend, died Sept. 5, 1880

Frances M. Townsend md. Jacob F. Covert Jan. 10. 1832.  He died Feb. 27,
1861.  Issue Francis, William, Margaret, James, Aurelia.  Frances and James
died in infancy.  William died April 29, 1853.

Samuel H. Townsend md. Louisa Parish. Issue, Fanny, Wm., Anna, Henrietta,
Louisa, Samuel, Charlotte, Mabel.  Charlotte died in infancy

James C. Townsend married Aurelia C. Winder Nov. 14, 1846.

Mary E. Townsend married Butler Coles. issue, Lizzy, Butler, George, T,
Loretta C, Nathaniel, the two first and last died in infancy.

Beekman H. Townsend married Adele Seaman.  Issue, Ada, Elizabeth,

Aurelia W. Townsend was born May 14th 1820, died April 16th, 1885

Samuel H. Townsend died Oct. 13, 1886.
