| Holy Bible in English; Edinburgh, Alexander Kincaid, 1769. Inside front cover is the statement: "Mary Townsend's Bible price 20 / Bought of Hugh Gaine @ New York, 1st August, Anno Domini 1775. Mary Townsend, Deceased February 7th, 1807." The book contains other records of the Townsend family and their slaves and is now the property of Miss Marguerite Valentine of Glen Cove, Long Island. "Deborah Townsend's Book, presented her by her Aunt Hannah Valentine February 1807". Deborah Townsend was Born October 17th, 1776. Hannah Townsend was Born October 18th, 1783. Hannah Townsend Deceased February 6th, 1808 aged 24 years 3 months 13 days. Elizabeth Townsend, Wife of Jacob Townsend, Died June 23d. 1811, aged thirty four years, five months and eleven days. Jacob Townsend, Died January thirteenth, 1841, aged 69 years, 10 months and 8 days. An acct. of the Birth of Prior and Sarah Townsend and their children. Prior Townsend was Born December 21st 1749 Sarah Townsend was Born August 27th 1750 George Townsend their first son was Born December 21, 1768 Jacob Townsend their second son was Born March 5th, 1771 Hannah Townsend third child was Born September 7th, 1774. Deborah Townsend, fourth child was Born October 17th day 1776 Hannah Townsend their fifth child was Born October 18th, 1783. Prior Townsend Deceased December 8th 1803 Sarah Townsend Deceased September 11th 1833 aged 83 years Black Boy Crodus was Born February 8th the eighth in the year 1767 Jerod Crodus Son was Born Novembr. 3d. 1807.
