Sudden Death of Mrs. Richard Peck.
Early Tuesday morning Mrs. Richard Peck, whose home has been with her
daughter Mrs. Samuel Bonner for a number of years, passed Suddenly away to
the better country, without a moment's warning.  She retired in her usual
health Monday night, after packing her satchel for a trip to the city the
following day.  About 3 o'clock. A.M. she was heard to make a sound as if in
distress, and the family scarclly reached her bedside before she expired.  Her
age was 68 years.
Lack of data and our crowded space preclude an extended notice of the
deceased this week.

Mrs. Rebecca Peck
A brief paragraph last week announced the sudden death early in the morning
of the 19 inst., of Mrs. Peck, relict of the late Richard Peck. Rebecca Jeffords
was born in Rush July 21st, 1820, and on Oct. 15th, 1845 was married to
Richard Peck.  She immediately took up her residence in the well known stone
farm house on the Peck homestead., where the couple continued to reside
until Mr. Peck's death June 11th, 1881.  Since that time Mrs. Peck lived with
her only child, Mrs. Samuel Bonner, within sight of the home of her long
married life.  Mrs. Peck was a woman who numbered her friends by the
number of acquaintances she possessed.  All who knew her intimately came
to value highly this sincere Christian woman.  Her genial nature, devoted
friendship, and earnest Christian faithfulness won love and respect from all,
and she leaves a memory tender and lasting among her large circle of friends.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their loss of one who as
wife, mother and friend so completely met all the requirements of true
womanhood.

Death of Richard Peck.
One of Lima's oldest and most widely known farmer, Mr. Richard Peck, died at
his residence east of this village on Saturday last, June 11th.  Mr. Peck was
born in the neighboring town of West Bloomfield, Nov 30th 1811.  He was one
of a family of nine children, five of whom survive him. His older brother who
has reached the advanced age of 81, is an invalid and resides at Clifton.  The
four surviving sisters are Mrs. Stage, Mrs. Riley, Mrs. Dann, and Mrs. Case,
three of whom were present at his funeral.  Of his own family he leaves his
wife and one daughter, Mrs. Samuel Bonner, and two sons Asa B. and James
Peck.  Mr. Peck was a man widely known and respected by all with whom he
came to be associated, as much for his genial, happy disposition as for his
strong character.  He was held in high esteem not only by his townsmen who
showed their appreciation of his worth by electing him supervisor for several
terms, but by the people of other towns throughout the county.  He was a
progressive farmer, and a lover of fine stock and was always one of the most
active members of the Livingston County Agricultural Society, of which he was
at one time the president.  Mr. Peck moved into the house where he died with
his parents when he was but a babe and with the exception of a year in which
he lived in Rush, his whole life has been spent in the home of his childhood.
His father and mother both breathed their last in the same room in which his
last hours on earth were spent.  Mr. Peck and wife were united with the
Presbyterian church in this village in the 7th of July 1867.  During his
connection with it he has been a conscientious and faithful helper in all good
works and in his last hours said that faith in Christ was perfect.  His funeral
took place from his residence on Monday last and was one of the largest that
has ever taken place in this town.

In Memoriam. - We learn with sorrow, of the sudden death of Mrs. Elizabeth
J. Arnold, wife of Prof. L. B. Arnold. She died very suddenly at her residence in
the Town of Gates, just west of the city of Rochester, Wednesday evening,
March 22nd, of hemorrhage of the lungs; aged 57 years.  Mrs. Arnold was a
true woman. Intelligent, accomplished, of an affectionate nature; hopeful,
progressive, she was the light and joy of her home, and the society in which
she moved.  Although for many years of sufferer, her strength of mind and
buoyancy of temperament enabled her to, in a great measure, rise above the
depressing influences of her physical condition and maintain a cheerful spirit
under circumstances that would have crushed a less self-sustaining character.
Our sympathies are with the bereaved husband and numerous afflicted
friends.

-The many friends of Dr. C. H. Hammond in Rush are pained to hear of his
death, which recently occurred at Iona, Mich.  He was for many years before
removing to Michigan a resident of Rush, where he had successfully practiced
medicine for a number of years.
