Richard Morris Family Bible
Holy Bible in English; London, Thomas Baskett, 1769.

Contains the records of Richard Morris (1730-1810), Chief Justice of New York
State, and Sarah Ludlow, his wife, with some of their descendants to their
great-grand-child, the father of the present owner, Mrs. William B. Morrison,
of Denver, Colorado.
The records have been verified by Miss Sophie Morris, a sister of Mrs. Morrison.

I was born the 15th August 1730 old stile* I was married on Wednesday the
13th day of June 1759 to Sarah Ludlow eldest daughter of Henry Ludlow &
Mary his wife (her maden name Mary Corbett) by the Rev. Mr. Barclay.

My son Lewis was born the 2nd November 1760 two o'clock A. M. My father &
Mr. W. Wickham & Mr. Ludlow stood for him.

My son Robert born 20th of June 1762 eleven o'clock A.M.  My brother Lewis
Uncle R. H. Morris and my sister Lawrence stood for him.

My daughter Mary born 2nd of august 7 o'clock A. M. 1763 Lewis Morris' wife
my wife's sister Mary Ludlow, god mothers G. H. Ludlow God father.

*My wife was born 15th September 1730 old stile.

My daughter Catherine born 6th of June 1765 at 7 o'clock P.M. Mary Ashfield
the Duchess of Gordon (by proxy) god mothers & Mr. Henry Ludlow Sen. God
father.  She died the 22nd of July 1765 burried in the vault at Morrisania.

My daughter 2nd Catherine born the 9th of June 1766 at 2 o'clock A.M. Mrs.
Sarah Hoffman & Mrs. Martha Ludlow God mothers and Mr. William N. Ludlow
Godfather.  She died the 13th of Aug. 1767 forty minutes after eight A.M.
burried in the family vault at Morrisania.

My wife died on Fryday the twenty eighth day of October 1791 at half after
eight in the evening & was interred Monday the 30th in a vault I had built for
my family in Trinity Church yard.

My father Richard Morris died at Scarsdale in the County of Westchester on
Wednesday the eleventh day of April 1810 about one o'clock P.M. in the
eightieth year of his age and was burried in his vault Trinity Church yard New
York on Friday the thirteenth of the same month.

My father Lewis R. Morris died at Springfield in the County of Windsor & state
of Vermont on Thursday the 29th day of December 1825 at half past eight
o'clock P.M. in the 66th year of his age and was burried in the burrial ground
at Charlestown N. H. on Sunday the 1st day of Jan. 1826.

I was born November 2nd 1760 & on the 30th of July 1801 was married to
Ellen, the eldest child of Jonathan and Leveriah Hunt of Vernon Vermont -
who was born on the 19th of October 1781 and died at Springfield, County of
Windsor, state of Vermont on Thursday August 24th in the eighty fifth year of
her age and buried in the burial ground at Charleston N. H. on Sunday the
27th of August 1865.

My father Richard H. Morris was born at Springfield Windsor Co. Vt. on the
16th of May 1803.  He was married to Mary P. Emerson, daughter of Hon.
Thos. Emerson of Windsor, Vt. Father died (on his return from the Floridas) at
Pederton Georgia Nov. 4th 1837 and was buried in the burial ground at
Charleston N. H.

His wife Mary P. Morris was born --- and died and was buried at Ann Arbor
Michigan Ap. 30th 1860 aged 57 yrs.

Lewis R. Morris eldest son of R. H. Morris was born at Norwich Vt. Nov. 22nd
1831.  Was married on Dec. 22nd 1853 at Cleveland Ohio to Mary Stillman
who was born at Euclid Ohio 14 Nov. 1834 He died Ap. 24th 1877 at Detroit
Michigan & was buried in the family burial ground at Cleveland Ohio.
