Obituary
Jane, wife of Allen Moore, died May 21st, 1885.  She was born in Cumberland
county, Kentucky, February 17th 1819; was married to Allen Moore December
29th, 1839, and moved to Warren county, Illinois, in the year 1846.  She was
the mother of eleven children, nine of whom survive her, with their father, to
mourn their loss.  She united with the Methodist church when young, and
honored the profession until her death.  The funeral discourse by J. W.
Bolton, of Monmouth, in which he gave an excellent exhortation to the large
assembly who heard him.  So death has entered that family and taken away
one of its main stays.  Death is an enemy, the last enemy to be destroyed.
Sin entered into the world and death by sin, so death passed upon all men,
for all have sinned. Death will continue its work until Christ comes the second
time and destroys him who has the power of death.  So the true christian's
hope centers in the second coming of Christ - the resurrection out from among
the dead, the establishment of the kingdom of God, as given by His prophets,
Christ, and His apostles, as recorded in the Old and New Testaments.
Mrs. Tinkham and Mrs. Stradley, daughters of Allen Moore, live in Nebraska,
but were present at the funeral and will stay and make a few visits among
near relatives and special friends.
