Adam Hude Family Bible
This record is from a Bible which formerly belonged to Rev. Ravaud Kearney
Rodgers, a great-great-grandson of Adam Hude and Marion, his wife.  We
have not been able to locate the Bible nor identify the edition.

Adam Hude & Marion his wife sailed from Leith, Scotland Sept. 5th 1685, in
the Ship Henry & Francis He is supposed to be one of those who had refused
the oath of Allegiance to the King; & was sent to East Jersey with many
others.  In 1695 he resided on Staten Island, during that year he purchased
land in Woodbridge, New Jersey; in 1718 he was appointed one of the Judges
of the Court of Common Pleas of Middlesex Co. and acted in the capacity of
Presiding judge as late as 1733.  He was also Master in chancery, and
enjoyed in a great degree the confidence of his fellow Citizens.

The Tombstones of himself, his wife & his son Robert are still to be seen in
the Presbyterian Churchyard at Woodbridge, N. J. bearing the following
inscriptions.

"Here lies the body of Mrs. Marion Hude, wife of Adam Hude Esq. for ye space
of 46 years, dearly beloved in Life & Lamented in Death.  She lived a Pattern
of Piety, patience, Meekness & Affability, & after she had served he
Generation in ye love & fear of God, in ye 71st year of her Age, Fell asleep in
Jesus, ye Nov. 20th 1732."

"Here lyes the Body of Adam Hude Esq. Departed June 27th 1746 in ye 85
year of his age."

"Here Lyes ye Body of Robert Hude Esq. Deceased Jan'y ye 30th 1748 in ye
58th year of his age."

Oct. 1710 Judge Hude [Adam] was admitted to the membership of the
Presbyterian church, Woodbridge N. J. Rev. Mr. Wade Pastor.

The children of Adam Hude & Marion his wife were as follows

John     Hude was born in the year 1687 in July the 23d.
Agnes   Hude   "     "                    1689 "  Oct.  "   29th
Robert  Hude   "     "                     1691 " Sept. "   25th
Andrew Hude    "     "                    1693 " July   "   13th
James  Hude    "     "                    1695 "  Aug.  "  14th
Mary     Hude   "      "                    1696 " July   "   27th

So that in the year 1711 as every of the days of the month come about, the
age of my children is a followeth, viz.

Agnes is 22 in Oct. 29th
Robert is 20 in Sep. 25th
Andrew is 18 in July 13th
james is 16 in Aug. 14th
Mary is 15 in July 27th

This computation is made the 9th day of May 1711 by me -

My Allow deer Wiff departed this life the 20 day of November 1732, the 70
year & nine months of her age - She & I lived 46 years together Man & Wiff,
in sweet Society, & as she lived in sweet peace & quiet, fel asleep in Jesus,
at 5 of the Clock, in the morning of the said day, above s,'d - & as she appear
in the clouds with the holy Angels & Saints with the Lord Jesus, in glorious
appearance, Ameane!

(John the first mentioned son died early, 1 Nov. 1687, & Andrew is marked as
having died in Dec. 1716  Robert died Jan. 30th 1748.)
