Joseph Harpham, of Algansee Township, only brother of Wm. Harpham of this
city, died at his residence in Algansee Saturday last at 6 p.m., of lung fever
having been sick less than a week, and considered dangerously so, for only a
few hours previous to his death. The funeral services were held yesterday at
the Warren school-house in Algansee and despite the extreme cold the
remains were followed to their resting place by a large concourse of friends.
The services were conducted by Rev. S. J. Colgan of Hall's Corner's taking for
his text the 35th verse of the 13th chapter of St. Mark. Mr. Harpham was born
Nov. 8, 1840, and for the past twenty years has been an active resident of
Algansee Township, where his death will be severaly felt: he has resided on
his present farm for 19 years. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his
loss, all of whom will be comforted by his last words, which were, "I am going
to meet my mother; meet me in Heaven."
