Richard S. Smilie, officiating. Friends and the family will depart from the Joe F. Berbling Funeral Chapel in 8th St., at 9:30 a.m. for the cemetery. Joe F. Berbling, Funeral Director, is in charge of arrangements. [Newspaper obit] Mrs. Cecil Ent Roche Mrs. Cecil Ent Roche, a former resident of Cairo, died Friday at 7 p.m., in the Grant Hospital, Chicago. She was born and educated in Cairo and had made her home in Chicago for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cairo. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Colby Knapp of Rochester, N. Y.; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Ent Bolin, Cairo; two brothers, Dr. Lewis Ent, Cairo and Kyle Ent, Memphis; one grandchild. Memorial services will be held Monday at 1 p.m., in the John Carroll Funeral Chapel, and funeral arrangements will be announced later. The family has requested flowers be omitted, but those wishing to do so may make a contribution to the Grant Hospital fund, 551 West Grant Place, Chicago, in memory of Mrs. Roche. Joe F. Brebling, Funeral director, is in charge of arrangements. [Newspaper obit] Deaths 9/15/48 [in pen] Mrs. Kate Hawley Ent Mrs. Kate Hawley Ent, age 79, widow of the late L. C. Ent, died at 12:15 p.m. today at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She had been a resident of Cairo for more than 50 years. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of this city. Mr. Ent preceded her in death in Cairo Feb. 2, 1948. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Cecile Ent Roche of Chicago; and Mrs. Mildred Ent Lehning of Cairo; two sons, Kyle Ent of Memphis, and Dr. L. S. Ent of Cairo; one grandson, Fred Ent Lehning, of Cairo; four granddaughters, Margaret Katherine Roche Knapp of Evanston, Ill., Kay Judy and Susie Ent all of Cairo; one great-grandson, Colby Spencer Knapp of Evanston; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The body is at Karcher Brothers Funeral Home where friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John S. Holladay, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be made in Spencer Heights Cemetery. Karcher Brothers Funeral Home is in charge. [Newspaper obit] Mrs. C. Delmar Lacon - Services for Mrs. Catherine K. Delmar, 66, of Chicago, who died Tuesday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Lenz Memorial Home. The Rev. Donald Harris will officiate. Cremation will follow services. She was born in Lincoln Aug. 20, 1903, a daughter of Colby H. and Daisy Morris Knapp. She was married in Chicago to Phillip Delmar. He died in 1960. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. John S. Vernay of Lacon, and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Roche was announced at a tea given last Saturday by Miss Miller's mother, Mrs. Dorothy I. Miller, at her home, 7563 Buckingham dr., Clayton. The tea was given in honor of Miss Miller's house guest, Miss Grace K. Ness, of Great Falls, Mont., who served with her in the U. S. marine corps. during the war.
